Welcome to CJSR’s new Executive Director and Station Manager, Sarah Hoyles!

September 26, 2025

Sarah (she/her) brings two decades of experience in broadcasting, journalism and communications to CJSR. As a seasoned radio reporter, host and producer, she has crafted programming with CBC nationally as well as regionally in Manitoba, New Brunswick, Alberta and the Yukon. She also spent five years hosting and producing Alberta-wide music and arts shows for CKUA, and makeout mixtape on CJSR airwaves since 2021. Sarah led the development of the branded podcasts for the Edmonton Heritage Council, Volleyball Alberta, Arete HR and more. Sarah shares her knowledge via podcasting workshops at Simon Fraser University, the University of Alberta, and for the Magazine Publishers Associations in Alberta and BC. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta and a Journalism degree from the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Sarah will join the dedicated staff at the station, who’ve worked tirelessly with the board of directors to sustain CJSR during the past two and a half years. A special thank you to Acting Station Manager and Program Director Chad Brunet and Music Librarian Matthew Gooding for their passion for and commitment to CJSR, without which we would not have made it to today.

CJSR remains the only independent, volunteer-powered, campus and community radio station in Edmonton / Amiskwaciy Waskahikan / Treaty 6 territory. Our community is like no other because of the contributions we all make to the station, whether as volunteers or staff, and the ways we support each other to help it grow. We look forward to a new chapter of engagement and collaboration under Sarah’s leadership, as we follow CJSR’s mission to inform and entertain while constantly challenging the status quo.

Sarah starts on Monday, September 29, just in time to help out with our annual FunDrive—kicking off on October 31.
