COVID-19 Updates and Resources

| & filed under News.

We’ve made some tweaks to better serve our community and volunteers through the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve also got some resources to share if you’re in need of support.

Although we aren’t able to make programming on site right now, a ton of CJSR’s volunteer DJs and reporters are still hard at work remotely. Keep it locked for music and community news from shows like Voice of Eritrea, BPM, Imaginary Landscapes, Agua Latina, Phased Out, Heavy Metal Lunchbox, and much much more.

Even DJs who aren’t able to do their regular programs at the moment are sending in messages of support for listeners, so listen for their voices throughout the day.

We’ve starting a new series of mini news updates on COVID-19 impacts and supports in Edmonton. These updates will air on weekdays at 10 AM, 1 PM, and 6 PM. We’re also sharing them as a new pop-up podcast: COVID-19 News from CJSR. You can listen on the website, on Apple Podcasts, or on Spotify.

We’re adding new coverage of COVID-19 through partnerships with CBC and BBC as well. CBC’s daily news podcast Frontburner is now airing on CJSR every weekday at 8:05 AM (shout-out to the National Campus and Community Radio Association for making this happen). In addition to regular BBC world news segments, we’re also adding coronavirus-specific news from BBC at 12 PM and 7 PM.

Shout-out to Hindenburg for offering software for our volunteers working from home.
