This Black History Month, CJSR is honouring the experiences, achievements and enduring contributions of Black communities in Canada. Throughout February, we’ll be spotlighting four Black Edmontonians who have influenced the local music scene over the years.

Big Miller | blues singer and bassist (February 1-7, 2026)

 

Judi Singh | jazz singer (February 8-14)

Teddy Pemberton | pioneering hip-hop DJ (February 15-21)

Eleanor Collins | Canada’s “first lady of jazz” (February 22-28)

New Program | Another Lens: Voices of The Community
Wednesdays at 5-5:30pm MT

A 4-part radio drama and discussion of issues and experiences of Black newcomers to Alberta. Produced by the Fort Black Society of Fort Saskatchewan, with grant funding from the Government of Alberta.
