It’s our pleasure to announce Asad Chishti (he/him) is joining the CJSR team as the News Director.
Asad will bring vast and various experiences to the station, from small businesses (including a cafe and movie theatre) to non-profits as a facilitator, youth worker and community archivist.
More recently, he’s worked with The Sprawl in Calgary as well as with CBC in places like the Yukon, Northwest Territories and the region of Waterloo. Asad currently serves as a board member for Briarpatch magazine. He is also the publisher and printer of the small press, Bul-bul, assembling chapbooks, zines and posters.
The News Director job marks a return to the campus-community radio after cameos on a late night show at CKDU (Halifax, NS) and working with CFRC (Kingston, ON) on the annual campus and community radio station conference.
Starting June 8, Asad will begin to contribute to CJSR’s mission of challenging the status quo.
