This year’s awards for CJSR shows and volunteers were handed on July 16, 2026.

The nine custom golden records (handcrafted by Program Director, Chad Brunet) recognize the volunteers who make the station go.

Favourite Music Show Award | The Dave Finkelman Award

The Award is named in honour of Dave Finkelman. The founding host of the CJSR show Big A, Little A and musician from experimental post-punk band, Energetic Action.

He was tragically killed by a car while crossing Whyte Avenue on January 27, 2014. He was just 27.

RECOGNITION AWARDS


 

Rookie Volunteer of the Year

Riley Perreault

Riley has contributed more than 30 volunteer hours this year, helping in the music library and ad production.

He has been working at CJSR over the summer as the Production Assistant where he’s been building his radio skills and bringing his creativity to all he does.


 

Veteran Volunteer of the Year | Gary McGowan Award

An award named in honour of former CJSR station manager, Gary McGowan. He was instrumental in CJSR getting our FM license.

John Huck
Long-time volunteer with the station, John has contributed in countless ways.

He hosted the newly-retired, award-winning show, Sunshine after Dark — the one-hour journey into disco aired on Thursday nights.

John also gave his time and attention to overseeing the station on the Board of Directors, First Alberta Campus Radio Association (FACRA). He was the treasurer for two years before stepping into the president role. Under his stewardship, John helped guide the organization through major changes in staffing and equipment upgrades.

Throughout his time at the FACRA helm, he provided steady and fastidious leadership.

10 Years on the Air Award
