CJSR is a non-profit non-partisan radio station focused on serving the public with high quality, diverse programming that constantly challenges the status quo.

Our value is based on our local proximity and diversity of human contributions and perspectives from community members.

If everyone uses artificial intelligence (AI)-generated artwork, prompts, scripts, etc. then CJSR will become no different than the AI-reliant mainstream media outlets that we exist to offer an alternative to.

CJSR considers AI to be a tool which can be used in our work but should only be done while practicing vigilance and applying human oversight to ensure responsible use.

We will use human review and oversight on all material produced by a generative AI system or fed into such a system. No such material should be published or relied upon without human vetting.
We will not use generative AI to directly write or voice news stories, scripts, host programs, social media posts, ads/PSA or generate photos for use.
We will not use/air music wholly generated by AI.
We will never rely on AI-generated results as the sole source of research in our information/stories. While AI tools may be useful in crunching numbers and finding patterns in data, we will always search for multiple sources and points of corroboration.
We will be transparent and inform our audience when we use AI tools to facilitate our journalism or production, such as transcription. All AI content aired must be reviewed by a real human (i.e. the programmer or volunteer prior to airing the material).
We will do our utmost to guarantee the adoption of best practices so as to respect and protect creators’ rights.
We will always strive to ensure data integrity and security.
We will evolve our policy as new AI tools become available.
