The Festival & Outreach Coordinator will work with our community partners to create promotion and entertainment opportunities for CJSR over the course of summer. They will oversee the transport and set-up of CJSR’s presence at a number of events in Edmonton and area. The successful candidates will work closely with all CJSR staff and volunteers.
Tasks
This position will plan and help implement CJSR information tables from farmers markets, local festivals, musical performances, concerts and other arts and cultural events for the summer of 2026. This includes:

- Plan and help implement future CJSR information tables and/or live broadcasts at farmers markets, local festivals, musical performances, concerts and other arts and cultural events for the summer of 2026, and assist with developing online community engagement.
- Liaise with Edmonton markets and festival organizers, maintaining established opportunities and setting up new ones
- Update lists of contact information for festival organizers
- Develop and implement creative outreach strategy at the CJSR promotional booth during festivals
- Act as a CJSR representative at arts and culture events and/or help recruit CJSR volunteers for tabling opportunities
- Schedule and train volunteers to be at festival booths and provide community outreach leadership
- Run contests/giveaways and manage merchandise during tabling events
- Conduct CJSR’s swag inventory
- Plan and run a liquidation sale of old CJSR swag in May 2026
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs (tent weights)
- Must have own access to phone and internet
- Strong communicator (open, fun and professional approach)
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a dynamic, hectic environment with a minimum of supervision
- Experience using Word and Google Docs
- Prior experience volunteering with CJSR is an asset, but not required
- Experience working with and coordinating volunteers is an asset
- Experience promoting organizations or businesses at community events is an asset
- Experience working for non-profit, community organizations is an asset
- University of Alberta students and recent graduates may be given preference
Terms
- 30 hours a week (through summer)
- Position begins as soon as a successful candidate is found (as soon as May 11, 2026)
- $18/hour
- This position is contingent on funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program. You must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment. International students do not qualify under this funding program.
