FAQ

Q: Do you have to be a student at the University of Alberta to volunteer at CJSR?

A: Nope! We are a campus & community radio station, so we are open to campus and community members.

Q: What if I don’t have any experience?

A: That’s A-OK! CJSR staff will provide hands-on training to help you learn the basics. No previous experience required.

Q: I made a volunteer profile. What’s next?

A: The next step is to sign up for CJSR Volunteer Orientation. There you will find out more information about CJSR as an organization, and what kinds of training and volunteer opportunities we offer. Go to ‘Opportunities’ > ‘Orientation and Training’ > ‘Orientation’ to sign up for the next available session.

Once you’ve completed Volunteer Orientation, you’ll need to become a FACRA member before you can start signing up for training and other volunteer opportunities.

Q: I’ve volunteered at other stations, do I really need all this training?

A: Yes. This is very important as we cover the policies and rules that are unique to CJSR. Without that crucial information, it’ll be a lot harder for you to settle in to CJSR. We want your time with us to be enjoyable and learning about us through our training is a vital part of that.
